NN @DevWorld Conference 2026

Tech

Last week, NN was present at DevWorld Amsterdam 2026. The two-day event, held at RAI Amsterdam, brought together hundreds of developers and other professionals from around the world to learn more about the future of AI, software development, operations, leadership and collaboration.

NN has over 4000 colleagues in tech, and DevWorld offered a great opportunity to share what we do and connect with other professionals. With the help of the NN Words game, built by our own developers, the booth became the space to talk about tech, innovative projects, and career opportunities. Over two days, more than thirty colleagues from across NN welcomed visitors, shared insights of life at NN, and talked about tech.

Two NN colleagues on stage

We were proud to see two of our NN colleagues take the stage, sharing their knowledge and experience. Rowdy Rabouw, Senior DevOps Engineer at NN Life & Pensions , and, Juliette van der Laarse, Engineering Managerat  NN Non-Life.

Rowdy's session on automating accessibility with Playwright showed how accessibility can evolve from a one-time check to a continuous process, becoming part of everyday development rather than a manual task. By adding automated checks to testing pipelines, teams can find issues earlier and improve quality step by step. Rowdy’s talk connected WCAG guidelines to real code examples, covering topics such as semantics, keyboard navigation and usability. The main message was clear: accessibility should be a shared responsibility across engineering teams, supported by tools that make it easier to act early, an approach we actively apply within NN Group.

In a different theme, Juliette explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping engineering work. The session addressed both the excitement and uncertainty many engineers experience today. She introduced the AI Flower framework, which makes visible how AI impacts skills, quality, risks and day-to-day work. Her talk provided a practical way for teams to navigate continuous change, rather than trying to predict a fixed future.

Looking ahead

Our experience at DevWorld 2026 was energising and engaging. We’re proud of the team that represented NN, and we’re excited to work towards the next event.
