Help shape the future of NN’s customer data landscape and lead our engineering teams through a major transformation. As a Senior Data Platform Lead Engineer, you will guide our transition towards a modern Customer Data Platform and a unified engineering way of working. 

With your technical depth, leadership skills, and ability to guide teams through change, you ensure that we build a scalable, high‑quality data platform that empowers customer insight, digitalization, and AI across NN. 

What you are going to do  

In this role, you act as both technical leader and senior engineer, responsible for defining direction, strengthening engineering maturity, and delivering robust platform solutions. You will: 

• Lead the transition to a new Customer Data Platform and modern engineering practices 
• Work closely with the Data Architect and engineering teams to redesign or rebuild solutions where necessary 
• Collaborate with data platform teams in other countries to align approaches and share best practices 
• Work with data engineers across other business unit platforms (Bank, NonLife, Pension, International) to establish a uniform engineering way of working 
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines, models, and platform components (primarily on Azure & Databricks) 
• Translate business and technical requirements into robust engineering solutions 
• Strengthen engineering culture through coaching, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement 
• Ensure quality, performance, security, and cost efficiency across the platform 
• Lead and inspire mid-level and junior engineers

Who you are  

You are a senior data engineer with strong technical leadership skills and the ability to guide teams through change. You enjoy setting direction, coaching engineers, and establishing best in class engineering practices. You bring: 

• 6+ years of experience as a (data) engineer in complex environments 
• Proven experience leading or coaching engineering teams 
• Deep hands on experience with Azure, Databricks, Python, SQL and (Py)Spark 
• Strong understanding of data platform architectures, ETL/ELT, and data modelling (3NF, Dimensional, Medallion) 
• Experience defining and implementing a unified way of working for Data Engineering 
• Experience working in Agile teams with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement 
• Experience with Collibra and Soda Data Quality (Soda DQ) or similar data quality frameworks is a plus 
• A mindset focused on standardization, DevOps practices and platform consistency across Business Units 
• Knowledge of data modelling techniques such as 3NF, dimensional modelling, and medallion architectures

Who you will work with 

You will join the Customer Data Management Office within the Customer & Digital domain. In this role, you will collaborate with several key teams shaping NN’s customer data strategy: 

• The Data Management team, on data definitions, business rules and data quality standards 
• SAP BP, the golden source for customer master data 
• AI CoE for delivering high-quality Data Products 
• Data engineering teams across multiple platforms (Bank, NonLife, Pension and International) to ensure platform wide uniformity 
• The Data Engineering Guild, where you contribute to shared best practices and engineering maturity 
• You also act as a bridge between NN Group IT and the various data platform teams, driving costsaving initiatives, strengthening platform standardization and promoting consistent engineering practices

You will collaborate closely with Security and Non-Financial Risk teams to ensure the platform meets all security, regulatory and compliance requirements. A key part of your role is to automate controls and monitoring, embedding secure by design principles. 

Finally, you will work closely with the Data & AI Platform team within Customer & Digital, and the central platform groups that provide shared services such as CDAAS and the NN Data Analytics Platform (NDAP). You will also be an active member of the Data Engineering Guild, connecting with engineers across NN Group.
