As Head of Public & Government Affairs at NN Group, you will lead a team that turns complex macro-economic and financial market developments into clear, actionable insights for our board. Your influence will extend beyond the organisation, helping to define our external positioning with Dutch and international regulators, policymakers, and opinion leaders. This is a role where strategic thinking meets impact, and where your leadership will help steer NN Group through a rapidly evolving landscape.
What you are going to do
Track, analyse, and interpret political, regulatory, and economic trends that impact the financial sector and NN Group’s business
Advise the board and senior management on risks, opportunities, solutions, and strategic responses—primarily through sharp, well-structured advice and briefings
Develop and execute public affairs strategies that strengthen NN Group’s reputation and influence
Build and maintain relationships with key (international) stakeholders: ministries, regulators (especially DNB and AFM), parliament, trade associations, and peers
Manage NN Group’s national and international memberships and participation in relevant networks (e.g. Verbond van Verzekeraars, VNO-NCW, NVB, PEIF, EFR, Geneva Association, WEF)
Coordinate and align external messaging and reporting on public affairs topics, both internally and externally
Lead, coach, and develop a team of professionals

As a self-starter, you have the ability to execute tasks quickly and with precision.
Key requirements:
Academic degree in economics, political science, public administration, or a related field
Extensive experience in public/government affairs, policy analysis, or a similar advisory role—preferably in the financial sector and / or relevant public sector organisations (ministries, supervisors)
Strong macro-economic and financial market understanding: you can quickly connect market developments to political and regulatory realities
Experience engaging with Dutch regulators (DNB, AFM) and understanding of their processes
Insurance sector knowledge is a strong plus; you can quickly get to grips with specialist topics (risk, solvency, etc.)
Excellent writing skills: you can distil complex issues into clear, concise, and persuasive memos and reports (in Dutch and English)
Proven ability to advise at board level and operate in a high-pressure, high-stakes environment
Experience leading a team and working cross-functionally
Extensive network in The Hague and/or Brussels is a plus
