The Internal Branding Expert at NN Group plays a key role in promoting our brand, purpose, values, objectives, products, and services to the (brand) marketing & communications community and other relevant employees. You are responsible for developing and executing a compelling internal branding strategy across our 10 (inter)national business units, with a particular focus on the Dutch Nationale-Nederlanden marketing organisation. You make sure that our purpose, core values, and marketing activities are consistently communicated in line with our brand strategy and promise. By activating the brand across all aspects of company life, you engage and educate employees to foster shared ownership and passionate brand advocacy. Internal Branding brings our brand strategy to life within NN by translating it into meaningful experiences and connections.

What you are going to do

Contribute to and drive the development of internal (brand) marketing strategies and activities:

  • Draft and implement internal marketing, engagement, and communication plans
  • Liaise with stakeholders to translate business strategy briefs into impactful internal campaigns
  • Ensure timely execution and completion of internal (brand) marketing campaigns and initiatives

Responsible for conceptual and creative development:

  • Develop ideas, themes, messaging, and campaigns (including copywriting) tailored to various internal campaign channels
  • Conceptualise content across multiple platforms, with a focus on digital channels that resonate with remote-working audiences
  • Curate, write, publish, and distribute newsletters and regular updates, such as the Quarterly Update
  • Create and develop creative concepts and engagement tactics for internal brand marketing events
  • Manage all internal brand marketing communication platforms in close collaboration with the Brand Identity Expert
  • Continuously improve the effectiveness of campaigns and channels by tracking performance against objectives and identifying corrective actions

Inspire creative collaboration and interpretation of business goals:

  • Translate NN’s business goals into engaging and creative internal brand communications
  • Work collaboratively with NN Group colleagues and internal and HRM communication specialists to deliver effective, professional, and efficient support
  • Engage, monitor, influence, and collaborate across the full marketing value chain to deliver high-quality internal brand marketing initiatives
  • Partner with Group Brand Marketing colleagues to ensure cohesive integration of campaigns with external components

Other:

  • Organise and host the monthly Group Branding call, covering topics related to our brand
  • Host onboarding calls to introduce new employees to our brand strategy and values
  • Keep branding, communication, and marketing colleagues informed about brand-related developments
  • Stay up to date with trends and best practices in internal brand marketing and communication
  • Organise inspirational and review sessions for branding, communication, and marketing teams

Who you are

You are experienced in promoting a company’s brand positioning, culture, products and services to the (brand) marketing & communications community and other (relevant) employees. You know how to be (co)responsible for developing and executing an effective internal brand marketing strategy and communication in a multi-brand organisation with a national and international presence. You are a champion in communicating a brand purpose and brand marketing activities in line with the brand strategy and promise. You activate this across all aspects of company life and educate and involve employees at every step of the internal brand marketing process to instil shared ownership and inspire passionate advocacy. You are known for living the brand as well as bringing a brand (internally) to life.

In more detail:

  • Relevant BA or academic degree
  • >5 years of experience in the field of expertise
  • Experienced in working with creative partners in the development of internal marketing campaigns
  • Deep understanding of internal marketing needs and trends across our (inter)national business units
  • Sensitive to various cultures and habits
  • Excellent internal marketing advisor skills, combined with the ability to translate this into clear, simple and straightforward conclusions/recommendations
  • High learning agility, meaning you can easily adapt and absorb new information in a changing environment combined with an excellent attention to detail, delivered at speed
  • Strong organisational sensitivity: well-attuned to others, low sensitivity for stress, balanced personality
  • Excellent presentation skills (verbal as well as in MS Office)
  • Ability to inspire and create enthusiasm amongst target audience
  • Strong self-starter, team player with solid ability to work independently
  • Ability to create, write and design internal marketing concepts and communications for various internal channels
  • Project management/coordination experience, demonstrate an ability to lead teams in the delivery of a unified task
  • Experience within a complex organization within (financial) services is desired
  • Excellent communication skills: fluent in Dutch and business English

Who you will work with

You will be part of NN Group's Brand Marketing unit that consists of sub teams focused on data, research and planning, on brand & marketing communications, brand publishing and brand engagement. The newly formed Brand Marketing unit of NN Group is (co) responsible for the development and maintenance of uniform and strong brand marketing activities ensuring that our brand has a distinct positioning across all markets. You will proactively advise all 10 (inter)national business units of NN Group and provide recommendations to guide and support strategical, tactical, and operational brand, marketing, and communications decisions. You work closely with Internal Communications, who are responsible for broader corporate internal communication efforts—including strategic updates, HR initiatives, and change communication—to ensure a consistent and integrated internal communication approach.

You will report to the manager Brand & Marketing Communications and advise her and our (inter)national in your area of expertise so that they can make informed decisions and guide the organization towards a next level of brand marketing.
