Sabrina Türker

In middle school, Sabrina Türker was already building robots equipped with sensors. That interest in technology, as well as her other fields of interest, has continued to develop over the years. “After graduating, I found it difficult to choose just one direction.” That’s why Sabrina opted for a traineeship at NN: “Here, I’m given the space to discover the role in which my qualities can best be utilized.” 

From self-built robots to Business Informatics 
Sabrina's interest in technology started early. “In high school, I was already programming and building robots with sensors. But because I found sustainability interesting as well, I decided to study biology.” She was also active in her study association. “I did this because personal development is very important to me. But when those activities came to a halt due to COVID-19, I taught myself how to program. I enjoyed it so much that I then pursued a master’s in Business Informatics.” Why technology appeals so much to her? “Because it’s developing at lightning speed. I love innovation, especially now that AI is getting so popular. That’s why I currently enjoy using the newest technologies to make processes more efficient.” 

Discovering the ideal role, step by step 
“Because I have so many different fields of interest, I found it difficult to immediately choose a career path after my studies,” Sabrina explains. “It felt like otherwise, I might get stuck in a specific role.” A traineeship turned out to be a logical next step. “Trainees at NN work in three rotations, each in a different department. That really appealed to me, and I’m really enjoying it now. I am given all the freedom to experiment, discover which role suits me best.” 

Vision, innovation, and teamwork 
In her role as a Technology & AI Trainee, Sabrina works closely with a team of engineers. "In my current assignment, I work as a Product Owner. I essentially outline the product's vision. So far, I find this one of the most enjoyable parts of the traineeship. I look at where we need to go, including in the long term. How can we remove as many steps as possible and speed up the process? We are increasingly using AI to achieve this. In this way, as IT professionals, we collaborate every day to make the customer’s digital journey as pleasant as possible." 

But the traineeship offers her more than just professional development. “You discover your strengths and get to know NN from the inside out. That will really give me a head start over other applicants later on. Furthermore, I am continuously expanding my network; that’s a huge bonus for the future.” 

A world of possibilities 
“NN’s traineeship really stood out to me,” says Sabrina. “Especially because there is a possibility to do a rotation abroad. Experiencing the work culture in countries like Japan, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, or Greece seemed amazing to me.” Ultimately, she remained in the Netherlands. “I first wanted to better understand NN’s Dutch products and strategies. But for the future, I don't rule out a period of working abroad. I would love to work in Japan for a while. The great thing is: it's possible here.” 

Investing in personal growth 
The focus on personal development also immediately attracted Sabrina. You matter is not just a slogan at NN, she says. “They walk the talk.” Every three months, she attends a training week with the other trainees. “Among other things, we learn how to build a strong team, work more productively, give effective feedback, and what type of leader you are.” 

That development aligns well with her own ambitions. “After my studies, I wanted to keep growing. For me, personal development never stops. NN offers many opportunities for this, including internal and external training courses. I'm considering following a course in storytelling, presentation skills, persuasion, or debating. As long as I can keep challenging myself, I know I’m in the right place.”
